northrop Grumman_BLUENorthrop Grumman (NYSE: NOC) will update and maintain a web-based platform for the Air Force and build the system to help military units collaborate on mission and crisis planning activities.

The company will add new tools to the Global Adaptive Planning Collaborative Information Environment system for commanders to manage campaign assignments and form contingency plans, Northrop said Monday.

Northrop won a potential five-year, $98 million contract to perform the work and our sister site GovCon Wire has more information on the award, here.

“The GAP CIE is designed for emerging crisis situations, so it’s important we automate courses of action tools to let joint operation planners focus on the quality of the information and the plan,” said Doug Pachunka, director of strategic command and control at Northrop’s information systems business.

According to Northrop, the system works to help tactical and strategic commands to connect with each other online and assist with operational decision-making.
