Joseph Bongiovi, a teaching and research fellow at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill, has joined Michael Baker International as executive vice president and chief human resources officer.
Bongiovi, who has held senior HR positions at several companies before he joined academia, will be in charge of realigning all HR functions as the company undergoes a reorganization, Baker said Monday.
He is also a former assistant director and adviser for UNC’s management and society degree program.
Prior to UNC, Bongiovi served as global HR vice president at Gilbarco Veeder-Root, HR managing director at Marsh Americas and VP for HR at RP Sherer Americas and Citibank NY Consumer Bank.
Bongiovi is a member of the Academy of Management, American Sociological Association and Society for Human Resources Management, among other organizations.
