A Thales–Siemens joint venture will implement signalling, telecommunications and security technologies for a rail line in southern Spain under a $284.9 million contract with ADIF Alta Velocidad.
The companies said Thursday the contract covers Thales’ project management services and electronic interlocking product and Siemens Rail Automation’s European Rail Traffic Management System level 2 with automatic braking and signal announcement systems.
ADIF Alta Velocidad aims to bolster the high-speed line’s infrastructure and passenger security with the project.
Thales and Siemens will also provide maintenance services over 20 years for the installations on the approximate 78.2-mile Antequera-Granada line, as well as modifications for existing Siemens ERTMS and Thales technology on the Cordoba-Malaga rail line.
