Pratt & Whitney‘s Shanghai Engine Center hosted a visit from U.S. Ambassador to China Max Sieben Baucus, who inspected the facility and met with executives from United Technologies Corp.‘s subsidiaries and joint venture partner.
The UTC subsidiary said Wednesday the center houses its Shanghai Pratt & Whitney Aircraft Engine Maintenance Company venture with China Eastern Airlines.
“It was a great privilege for us to welcome Ambassador Baucus to inspect our LEED Platinum–certified facility today,” said Roger Retana, general manager of the Shanghai Engine Center.
The 250,000-square-foot facility opened in 2009 and performs aircraft parts repair and engine overhaul services.
Pratt & Whitney said the Shanghai Engine Center is part of its relationship with the Chinese aviation industry as the company offers products and services for the local commercial aerospace sector.
Representatives from Sikorsky and UTC Aerospace Systems were also present for the visit.
