BoeingLogo1 EbizBoeing will partner with broadband service company ViaSat to deliver a Ka-band satellite bandwidth offering to a U.S. government organization.

The companies will provide the agency with military communications bandwidth through Inmarsat‘s Global Xpress commercial satellite network, Boeing said Tuesday.

According to Boeing, the agency will have rights to leverage Inmarsat-5 satcom service until Sept. 30, 2015.

“Our mission is to identify and facilitate the use of available commercial communications capacity on behalf of U.S. government customers and allies,” said Jim Mitchell, vice president of Boeing’s commercial satellite services unit.

The business collaborates with satellite technology firms to distribute bandwidth and build hosted spacecraft payloads.
