King wrote Wednesday that companies must ensure their cloud vendor has invested in physical and security systems, role-based controls and cloud security standards.

“Proper security for cloud applications should include ongoing application vulnerability scanning to uncover potential issues before they are exploited,” he says.

King also highlighted the value of investing in multifactor verification for the cloud and access controls in order to limit network access to the intended user.

“It’s important to monitor logs for operating systems, applications, and security devices in the cloud to find and mitigate issues as they happen,” King writes.

He also cited a Harvard Business Review report that indicates enterprises worldwide believe that cloud helps enhance their security.
