Motorola Solutions has rolled out a new long-term evolution vehicle modem as the company aims to fulfill high-speed data demands of public safety and commercial carrier customers.
The ruggedized VML750 LTE modem works on fire apparatuses, ambulances, utility trucks, transit and school buses, Motorola Solutions said Monday.
Bruce Brda, senior vice president of government services at Motorola Solutions, said the company built the modem to help public safety, government services and utilities carry out broadband communications operations.
“This new LTE modem harnesses the power of commercial carrier 3G/4G LTE and public safety LTE to deliver fast, reliable data to these users,“ said Brda.
The LTE modem features a built-in GPS tool, 4G-to-3G fallback function on public carrier and private LTE roaming.
VML750 works tostreaming, mobile computer-aided dispatch, automatic vehicle location, resource mapping, mobile Wi-Fi access, incident command and license plate recognition applications.
Up to 32 users will be able to connect to a wireless hub through the modem, according to Motorola Solutions.
