David Gormley, a director at CA Technologies‘ security business, pointed to identity and access management tools as ways to protect a company’s networks as it engages with customers via electronic channels, GovInfoSecurity reported Thursday.

Gormley told the website that companies must balance customer service and security by continuing interactions with customers while ensuring customer-facing applications and services are secure.

“There’s a real challenge there to try to set up a coordinated or standardized system so that they can focus on the business aspects of the applications and then just latch on the appropriate security when necessary,” he said.
