OracleLogoOracle Corp. has released a new survey that indicates information technology executives want to further their mobile application and device development and spending over the next few years.

CIO Strategic Marketing Services and Triangle Publishing Services performed the survey on 414 IT management executives worldwide from chief information officers to senior IT professionals, Oracle said Thursday.

Mobile-related data breaches remain a top challenge for 93 percent of respondents due in part to the implementation of the Bring Your Own Device program, according to the survey.

Over the next two years, 10 percent of enterprises plan to encrypt data on mobile devices, 11 percent will centralize their updating and troubleshooting functions, another 11 percent intend to focus on remote data wiping and 18 percent plan to lock down device features.

“Mobility has been ubiquitous for a while but only 10 percent of enterprises have an enterprise wide deployment of mobile,” said Suhas Uliyar, vice president of mobile strategy and product management at Oracle.

“This survey is reassuring in that enterprises see potential for great payoff from making a strong mobile commitment,” added Uliyar.

Of all the midsize and large respondent organizations, 35 percent update their mobile apps every month and 34 percent every quarter.

Cloud platforms are also the preferred mobile app deployment platform for 75 percent of enterprises, according to the survey.
