Exelis recently completed jamming trials for its Signal Sentry 1000 GPS threat detection technology in collaboration with the British defense ministry.
The Defence Science and Technology Laboratory conducted the controlled tests in Sennybridge in Wales, Exelis said Wednesday.
During field testing, Signal Sentry geolocated and identified all sources of intentional GPS interferences, whether they were placed at fixed locations or on moving vehicles with maximum speeds of up to 40mph.
Exelis indicated that the jamming devices that were used for the trials were commercial off-the-shelf products.
Mark Pisani, Exelis vice president and general manager for positioning, navigation and timing, said the field tests demonstrated what Signal Sentry was designed to do to secure the GPS infrastructure and ensure public safety.
Exelis developed the Signal Sentry 1000 electronic intelligence system together with Chronos Technology, an industrial monitoring systems company based in Gloucestershire, U.K.
