Pamela Drew, executive vice president and president information systems at Exelis, has discussed the company’s initiative to advocate science, technology, engineering and mathematics subjects among students in an interview with STEM Blog published Friday.

Drew told STEM Blog that the company highlights contributions of STEM careers to different fields as it “is an important message to convey when encouraging our youth to pursue those areas of study.”

She told the website Exelis formed an inclusion and diversity council with CEO David Melcher as the chairman in an effort to promote diversity, according to the report.

“Promoting a culture that values and embraces diversity is critical to the success of any organization“”especially at a company like Exelis that is built on the talent and expertise of individuals in the areas of science, technology, engineering and mathematics,” Drew told the publication.

“The bottom line is that a diverse workforce produces better business results, and I'm proud that Exelis recognizes its importance,” she added.
