IDC Evaluates 12 IaaS Vendors as Gov't Cloud Adoption Continues - top government contractors - best government contracting event

market researchIDC‘s Government Insights segment has released a new report on its evaluation of 12 cloud infrastructure-as-a-service vendors in the federal marketplace against set of weighted parameters for both short-term and long-term deployments.

The research firm said Friday that the “IDC MarketScape: U.S. Government Private Cloud IaaS 2014 Vendor Assessment” report used pricing, scalability, compute services, value-added services and a single point of accountability as factors in the assessment.

IDC says government is turning to private cloud and IaaS to support an increase in volume of data amid tighter budgets and to help transform IT processes.

“Government decision-makers should review their strategic plans and select vendors for their IaaS based on best fit,” said Adelaide O’Brien, research director at IDC Government Insights.

According to IDC, government buyers look for IaaS tools that deliver modular storage, compute and networking functions as well as vendors that have the needed domain knowledge, intellectual property and technology expertise.

The vendors included in the assessment are:

  • Accenture
  • AT&T
  • Amazon Web Services
  • CenturyLink
  • CGI
  • CSC
  • Dell
  • HP
  • IBM
  • Microsoft
  • Unisys
  • Verizon
