Tom Rodgers, formerly Cambia Health’s venture investment lead, has returned to McKesson Corp. as managing director and head of that company’s newly launched venture capital fund.

He will lead McKesson Ventures’ efforts to invest in early- and growth-stage companies that provide services to the healthcare industry, McKesson said Wednesday.

“McKesson Ventures will help us support the development and commercialization of innovations taking place across healthcare,” said John Hammergren, chairman and CEO of McKesson.

The company said it launched the McKesson Ventures fund to target companies that focus on trends such as consumerism of healthcare, alternate delivery models and value-based reimbursement models.

Rodgers has served as a partner at Advanced Technology Ventures, with responsibility in healthcare technology efforts, before he joined Cambia.

His career at McKesson includes roles such as vice president of corporate strategy and business development.
