Northrop Grumman has begun business operations and local industry partnerships in New Zealand to support expansion efforts in the Asia-Pacific region.

The company said Monday it decided to officially enter New Zealand after its acquisitions of Australia-based firms M5 Network Security in 2012 and the former Qantas Defence Services in 2014.

“Northrop Grumman has made the decision to invest in this region for the long term,” said Ian Irving, chief executive of Northrop’s Australian arm.

The company officially launched its New Zealand arm at a ceremony this week in Wellington, the country’s capita

Irving, who will also lead New Zealand operations, added that the expansion efforts include the coverage of the company’s global supply chain program and partnerships with local regional businesses Electrotech and DataCom.

“Our desire is to bring to New Zealand the new capabilities that it will need for the future and to see these capabilities delivered by New Zealanders, both within Northrop Grumman and our local industrial partners.”l.
