Pentagon1FLIR Systems Inc. has been awarded a $51.1 million follow-on order to produce chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear and explosives threat response systems for the Defense Department.

The systems are designed to help U.S. Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines and civil support personnel evaluate sites and handle missions, FLIR Systems said Thursday.

FLIR Systems will build the kits at its Elkridge, Maryland-based facility and deliver the order beginning in September 2015 through April 2016.

“We are pleased to support the U.S. government with these integrated systems that are designed to protect people against serious threats,” said Andy Teich, president and CEO of FLIR.

The five-year indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract is awarded under the DoD’s nuclear, biological and chemical dismounted reconnaissance sets, kits and outfits program, which started in 2008.
