Raytheon and Jenoptik have partnered to develop a power generation technology for international users of Raytheon’s Patriot air and missile defense systems.
Jenoptik subsidiary Lechmotoren will help build power plants and generators, testing equipment and spares for an unnamed Patriot customer through the partnership, Raytheon said Friday.
The alliance is also looking to supply Patriot power generation equipment to two more international clients.
“The 13-nation global Patriot network offers Jenoptik and other industry partners access to an export market of established users worldwide,” said Ralph Acaba, vice president of integrated air and missile defense at Raytheon’s integrated defense systems business.
Raytheon aims to upgrade its Patriot system in pursuit of Germany’s Tactical Air Defense System 2020 program.
The company said it seeks to offer Germany a defense weapon platform that integrates a 360-degree multifunction radar, an open command-and-control architecture and a threat-based interceptor.
