FireEye_logo_EMFireEye Chairman and CEO Dave DeWalt said the company plans to shift its focus from an infrastructure-based security to what he called as endpoint security as part of the firm’s growth strategy in the area of Internet of Things, DC Inno reported Friday.

Chris Bing writes DeWalt envisions the company to equip power grids, smartphones, automobiles and other Internet-based devices with cybersecurity platforms that intend to protect such devices from vulnerabilities and potential cyber attacks.

“Over time you will see us building endpoint technology… We think the future of that, measured in million and trillions of devices connected, is a big market opportunity,” DeWalt said Thursday at the company’s Government Forum event.

“The Internet of Things has created a lot of opportunity for adversaries in ways that people hadn’t imagined,” he added.IoT news ad

DeWalt told the publication that the company will work to improve monitoring capability as part of the company’s efforts to provide security systems for a wide range of traditional and new endpoints that comprise the IoT.
