Kevin Baril, formerly vice president of global business services at IBM, has joined Grant Thornton’s San Diego office as a principal in its advisory practice, San Diego Business Journal reported Tuesday.

Michael Lipkin writes Baril will be responsible for the strategy, technology transformation and systems implementation for the West region for Grant Thornton, a tax and advisory firm based in Chicago.

Doreen Griffith, Grant Thornton’s California managing partner, said Baril’s industry knowledge, and experience in identifying and developing profitable business growth “will be an invaluable asset to our clients throughout the West region as we continue to expand our practice,” according to the report.

He was previously a partner for PricewaterhouseCoopers’ management consulting services group, the Journal reports.
