cybersecuritySteve Martino, chief information security officer and a vice president at Cisco, wrote in an opinion piece for Nextgov that adopters of the Internet of Everything platform should embed big data collection and network visibility tools into their IoE security architecture.

Martino said he believes an IoE security framework should also include strategies to tackle data privacy, protection and service delivery issues.

“By taking a threat-centric, “network as a senso” approach, information technology security teams can leverage mobile, cloud and IoE endpoints in new ways to increase transparency and build actionable information,” he stated.

IT organizations can use networked devices, fog computing systems and machine-learning algorithms to gain awareness of threats within a connected environment, according to Martino.

He added IoE technology has the potential to help government agencies increase operational efficiency and improve management of public infrastructure systems.
