Iridium Communications has selected seven businesses as the initial service providers to resell the Iridium Push-to-Talk service to military, search-and-rescue, law enforcement and other customers in the international market.
The company said Monday the service works to support instant communication from any location via the Iridium low-earth orbit satellite system and operates as half-duplex communication.
The following are the Iridium PTT initial service providers:
- AST Group of Companies
- Beam Communications
- Gardline Comms
- Gilat Satcom
- Network Innovations
- Spacenet Communication Services de Mexico
“This is a stellar group of service providers that represent some of the very best across the industry; we’re pleased to be partnering with them to bring this solution to new customers globally,” said Joel Thompson, vice president and general manager of Iridium’s terrestrial business unit.
Iridium said radios powered by the Iridium Core 9523 transceiver and support from the cloud-based customer management system Iridium PTT Command Center are included in the offering.
