Lockheed Martin BlueLockheed Martin will upgrade the U.S. Navy‘s AN/SLQ-32 electronic warfare defense systems under a $154 million, low-rate initial production contract for the Surface Electronic Warfare Improvement Program.

The company said Thursday the upgrade is part of SEWIP Block 2 and will provide additional functionality and defensive technologies to AN/SLQ-32 systems on various Navy vessels.

Joe Ottaviano, electronic warfare program director at Lockheed’s mission systems and training business, noted that the contract works to help the Navy keep an advantage over adversaries amid the ever-changing threat environment.

Lockheed said it will perform work at its facility in Syracuse, New York.
