mobile-securityA new report by Good Technology says 67 percent of enterprises are increasing the usage of different mobile applications to secure corporate data.

Good Technology said Tuesday its Mobility Index Report has found that custom apps, secure browser, document access, instant messaging and document editing are the top app categories among corporate organizations.

“As the mobile device displaces the desktop as the primary computing platform, enterprise mobility is enabling employees with the secure apps and content they need,” said Christy Wyatt, chairman and CEO at Good Technology.

“We continue to see security at the heart of every enterprise conversation, coupled with end user privacy concerns.”

The study also found an increase in the adoption of custom apps in the utilities and energy sectors.

Good Technology also noted a rise in the use of secure IM apps among financial services companies and document access and editing apps among consulting, law and accountancy firms.

According to the report, the iOS operating system gained the highest market share for mobile device activations, followed by Android and Windows.
