general-dynamics-logo2General Dynamics has received a potential $29 million contract to supply digital modular radios and related tools to the U.S. Navy for new surface ships and submarines.

The contract production of 56 units of AN/USC-61(C) DMRs with the Mobile User Objective System waveform that is designed to help place voice calls with the Defense Department“™s MUOS narrowband satellite communications platform, the company said Monday.

The service branch placed the order under option five of a contract awardd in 2010.

General Dynamics has updated the software on DMRs in an effort to increase the radio“™s virtual channels to eight and broaden communications capacity for sailors.
