F16FleetThe State Department has approved Bahrain’s request to obtain follow-on F-16 aircraft support services, equipment and spares from the U.S. under a $150 million foreign military sales deal.

The Defense Security Cooperation Agency said Friday it has not yet determined a principal contractor to deliver the order.

The deal covers communications equipment, ammunition, personal training and instructional materials, spare and repair parts, technical documentation and electronic combat international security assistance program support for the Bahrain F-16 fleet, produced by Lockheed Martin.

DSCA said additional maintenance and sustainment work on Bahrain’s F-16 jets is needed due to the fleet’s age and participation in Operation Inherent Resolve.

The agency informed Congress of the potential sale Tuesday.
