ParsonsParsons Government Services International has secured a potential four-year, $16.9 million task order to provide nuclear security support across Ukraine and worldwide as part of the Defense Threat Reduction Agency’s Cooperative Threat Reduction Integrating Contract II.

DTRA received two proposals for the contract after it solicited bids from four original CTRIC II contract holders, the Defense Department said Friday.

Parsons, Bechtel, Raytheon and AECOM were initially selected for CTRIC II April 2011.

The Cooperative Threat Reduction initiative seeks to forestall the development of weapons of mass destruction and related tools in former Soviet Union member-countries through various efforts such as the neutralization of chemical weapons and deactivation of nuclear warheads, according to DTRA.

DoD said Parsons will carry out work in Kyiv, Ukraine, through September 2017 under the contract, which has a two-year base term and two option years.

The contract also includes 11 additional option tasks, each with a performance period of one year.
