Laurence Grayer, of counsel at Protorae Law, has been appointed to the board of directors at Veterans Moving Forward, a nonprofit organization that trains and offers assistance dogs to former military service members with physical and mental health problems.

He previously held the roles of senior vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary at DynCorp International, where he worked for more than eight years.

In that capacity, Grayer counseled DynCorp’s executive management team and board members on legal issues related to merger and acquisition activities, labor, divestitures, joint ventures, risk management and mitigation, corporate governance, and intellectual property.

He also spent seven years at Amalgamated Transit Union as assistant general counsel and is a former associate of Hack, Piro, O’Day, Merklinger, Wallace & McKenna.

He also worked as a law clerk at the New York State Supreme Court and a corporation counsel for the city of New York, as well as worked at the New York Stock Exchange’s enforcement division and for Rep. James Saxton in Washington.

Grayer has also founded an international disaster relief fund, served on the President of the United States’ Committee on Employment of People with Disabilities and provided pro bono services.
