Amazon Web Services has introduced a fresh data transport tool for customers designed to transfer large volumes of data using secure appliances.
AWS Import/Export Snowball works to transport up to 50 terabytes of data into and out of AWS and protect the transfer process with secure enclosures, 256-bit encryption and a trusted platform module, AWS said Oct. 7.
AWS aims for the offering to address the challenges of high network costs, long transfer times and security when clients transfer large-scale data.
“With Snowball, you don’t need to write any code or purchase any hardware to transfer your data,†AWS says.
“Simply create a job in the AWS management console and a Snowball appliance will be automatically shipped to you,†according to the company.
