BAE Systems‘ U.S. subsidiary has won an $11 million contract to research, build and demonstrate a full-spectrum staring electronic support receiver with a direction finder technology for the U.S. Navy.
The Navy wants the company to use electronic and photonic materials to develop the FSSR and help integrate the system into an electronic warfare platform, the Defense Department said Thursday.
BAE and the military service aim to test the EW receiver in a multi-threat electromagnetic scenario through the project.
Work will occur in Nashua, New Hampshire, through Oct. 6, 2018, and the Navy is obligating $2.8 million at the time of award from the branch’s fiscal 2015 research, development, test and evaluation funds.
