Capstone Turbine, Argonne National Lab Team Up for DOE’s R&D Pilot Program; Jeff Foster Comments

alliance partnership connectCapstone Turbine and Argonne National Laboratory, a University of Chicago-run engineering and science research facility, have formed a partnership to take part in the Energy Department’s Technologist in Residence pilot program.

The Capstone-Argonne team is one of the seven pairs that will receive $2.6 million in total funds over two years under the TIR pilot initiative, which aims to facilitate collaboration between companies and national laboratories in research and development activities, Capstone said Tuesday.

Capstone and Argonne will perform research on fuel adaptability and active combustion control platforms in an effort to develop low-emission power systems as well as formulate new projects with other researchers through the program.

“The TIR program provides us the incentive needed to continue the advancement of [combined heat and power] solutions with the leverage of a national lab enterprise,” said Jeff Foster, vice president of customer service and director of program management at Capstone Turbine.
