AEHF satelliteInmarsat and EM Solutions have partnered to produce a satellite communications terminal for maritime clients.

The companies will design a combined MilSatCom and Global Xpress maritime satcom terminal for users to monitor via monopulse technology and switch between GX and MilSatCom systems, Inmarsat said Friday.

Inmarsat is scheduled to certify the new terminal during the second quarter of 2016 before submitting the technology for wideband global satcom certification.

The terminal was developed for an Australian government agency, which Inmarsat Global Government President Andy Start says intends to “increase the operational capabilities of their satellite communications within significant budget constraints and the requirement to reduce the footprint of satellite equipment on-board its new vessels.”

EM Solutions will provide its Diamond Series Ka mulitband block up converters for the terminals.
