Global-XpressHoneywell“™s aerospace business has obtained approval from the Federal Aviation Administration for its JetWave hardware for use onboard Boeing 757 aircraft.

JetWave is a wireless system that works to allow aircraft to establish Internet connectivity with Inmarsat“™s Global Xpress broadband satellite network through GX Aviation service, Honeywell said Thursday.

Jack Jacobs, vice president of safety and connectivity at Honeywell Aerospace, said the FAA certification will allow JetWave to provide airlines and passengers with in-flight Wi-Fi connection.

Honeywell received FAA approval for the system after it completed several tests aboard its test aircraft for more than 180 flight hours.
