Raytheon logo_EbizRaytheon has been awarded a $42.2 million contract modification with the U.S. Navy to exercise options for support to the Phalanx weapon systems designed to counter anti-ship missile threats.

Raytheon will perform design agent engineering and technical support services on Phalanx and SeaRAM for the U.S. as well as Turkey, Australia, Japan, Canada, U.K., South Korea, Bahrain, Pakistan and Egypt under a foreign military sales agreement, the Defense Department said Thursday.

The company will carry out the task through October 2016 at various locations.

Phalanx works to identify, monitor and target anti-ship missile threats that have breached the outer lines of defense.
