Chinook (1)The Canadian air force’s first class of CH-147F Chinook helicopter aircrews has completed its training with the Boeing-built helicopter using a CAE-developed training system.

The Chinook aircrew comprises six first officers, two flight engineers and two loadmasters who graduated during a ceremony held at Garrison Petawawa in Ontario after a 24-week course, CAE said Monday.

CAE worked with the air force to develop the training program using computer-based classroom and academic training, flight simulator and training device instruction and live flying exercises.

“We applaud and congratulate the first of many classes that will produce qualified aircrew for Canada’s 450 Tactical Helicopter Squadron,” said Mike Greenley, vice president and general manager at CAE’s Canadian arm.

The Canadian air force kicked off the CH-147F aircrew training in August 2015 and used CAE’s Simfinity computer-based training courses, trainers and instructor tools.
