Comtech-Telecommunications-Corp.logo-Comtech Telecommunications has been awarded a $20 million contract option from the U.S. Army to provide sustainment support for the Blue-Force Tracking program and continue associated intellectual property licenses.

The company said Monday it received the second option year for engineering services and satellite network operations support to the BFT-1 mission through March 31, 2017.

Comtech added it expects to receive additional funds under the option.

The original three-year BFT-1 sustainment contract and related license agreement were first awarded in April 2014 and has now reached an accumulated potential value of $71.2 million, Comtech noted.

The option gives the Army a non-exclusive right to use Comtech’s IP with no added license fee until the performance period ends.
