explosive-disposalDRS Technologies and Roboteam have inked a strategic agreement to develop a new system that the team plans to offer for the U.S. Army‘s Common Robotic System – Individual program.

The alliance will utilize Roboteam’s military robotics technology and DRS’ market presence, platform systems engineering services and production capacity to support their CRS-I program efforts, DRS said Tuesday.

Joseph Matteoni, vice president and general manager of DRS’ sustainment systems unit, said the company looks to provide dismounted troops with robotics technology that helps mitigate threats.

DRS said CRS-I aims to support lower-level reconnaissance, surveillance and target acquisition operations as well as chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear weapons detection and explosive ordnance disposal.
