Lockheed Martin has received a $54.9 million contract from the U.S. Navy to update mission computers, armament and ordnance systems, displays and controls and acoustic equipment on eight P-3C Orion maritime surveillance planes for Germany.
The P-3C Mission System Refresh Program will cover long-lead items procurement, non-recurring engineering, design and build, integration, planning and software development services, the Defense Department said Wednesday.
Lockheed’s global subsidiary will provide the support services to Germany through the U.S. foreign military sales program.
Work will occur through March 2017 at various locations in New York, Minnesota, Virginia and Germany.
Lockheed designed the P-3 maritime patrol and anti-submarine warfare aircraft to employ infrared and long-range electro-optical cameras, special imaging radar technology and internal and external weapons carriage systems.
