SchaferSchafer Corp. has established a commercial space situational awareness business unit that will be led by Donald Greiman, a former National Air and Space Intelligence Center vice commander for the U.S. Air Force.

Greiman will serve as vice president and general manager for CSSA and work with former astronaut Mark Brown to lead a team that will support Schafer’s space situational awareness ventures, Schafer said Wednesday.

Greiman’s career includes leadership roles with a number of scientist, engineer and technologist industry teams and nearly 40 years of experience in the U.S. defense sector.

Schafer said the CSSA team includes eight specialized companies that will work to provide increased space coverage through position determination, orbit prediction, analysis, pre-mission planning, risk assessment and other services using more than 85 eletro-optical, radio frequency and laser sensors.
