United Technologies Corp.United Technologies Corp. will establish a new facility in Foley, Alabama to accommodate manufacturing and nacelle assembly activities of UTC’s aerospace systems segment.

The 80,000-square-foot building will be built to serve as the assembly area for nacelle components and house the propulsion system integration work in support of the Airbus A320 aircraft, UTC said Tuesday.

UTC expects the project to create up to 260 jobs and is scheduled to open the facility in the second quarter of 2017.

“We chose Foley to expand because of its proven track record of performance, our desire to be near a key customer, and the tremendous cooperation we’ve had from the state, county and the city,” said Marc Duvall, president of the aerostructures business in UTC’s aerospace systems segment.

The facility will also support aircraft built with Pratt & Whitney-made PurePower PW1000G Geared Turbofan engine technology, including the Bombardier CSeries, the Embraer E2 and Mitsubishi Regional Jet aircraft.
