partnershipCisco has signed an agreement with Saudi Arabia in an effort to facilitate adoption of digital platforms in the country.

The company will help Saudi Arabia develop its information, communication and technology infrastructure as well share its experience and skills in the implementation of digital government and connected education and healthcare programs through the memorandum of understanding, Cisco said Friday.

The partnership also aims to facilitate the development of startups and advance research and education initiatives in the country.

Cisco inked the pact with Saudi Arabia’s commerce and investment ministry after Cisco CEO Chuck Robbins, John Chambers, executive chairman at Cisco; and Abdullah Al-Swaha, Cisco’s managing director for Saudi Arabia, held a meeting with Saudi Deputy Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.

The MOU is part of the company’s Country Digitization Acceleration program that seeks to help foreign governments implement their digitization strategies in support of national efforts to generate jobs and achieve gross domestic product growth.
