Dan Bennewitz: QTS to Open Mega Data Center in Downtown Chicago - top government contractors - best government contracting event

DataCenterQTS Realty Trust will open a 317,000-square-foot data center in downtown Chicago Friday to provide a range of information technology infrastructure services to government and enterprise customers.

QTS said Tuesday it collaborated Mortenson Construction and consulting-engineering firm ESD to design and build the mega data center on the former Chicago Sun-Times  complex.

The facility is built to offer direct access to long-haul fiber networks for organizations located in Chicago’s central business district and surrounding areas, according to QTS.

“We are focused on a collaborative, high-touch enterprise approach serving the dynamic needs of today's agile enterprises seeking a partner that can right-size flexible and scalable IT solutions for today and tomorrow,” said Dan Bennewitz, QTS chief operations officer of sales and marketing.

The 317,000-square-foot Building 1 is designed to have a total capacity of 24 megawatts and support 133,000 square feet of raised floor.

QTS noted it can add roughly 32 megawatts of data center capacity and 213,000 square feet of raised floor in a second building at the site.
