Mark Fox, a retired U.S. Navy vice admiral, has joined Huntington Ingalls Industries as corporate vice president of customer affairs at HII's Newport News Shipbuilding division.
He will succeed Evan “Marty“ Chanik, also a retired Navy vice admiral who is scheduled to retire in October, in the role and will directly report to Mitch Waldman, corporate VP of HII's government and customer relations, HII said Tuesday.
Fox will oversee all Newport News Shipbuilding's customer outreach programs through the division's Washington office.
The 30-year Navy veteran is former deputy commander of the U.S. Central Command.
He started his career in the service branch as a naval aviator in 1980 and held several command and leadership positions, including commander of the Naval Strike and Air Warfare Center and deputy chief of naval operations for operations, plans and strategy.
Fox also served as commander of the Strike Fighter Squadron 81 and Carrier Strike Group 10 onboard USS Enterprise and USS Harry S. Truman aircraft carriers, respectively.
