BAE Systems‘ U.S. subsidiary has won a potential four-year, $8.7 million from the U.S. Air Force to research, build and demonstrate a software system for first responders.
The Defense Department said Friday that BAE Systems Inc.‘s information and electronic systems integration unit will help the Air Force Research Laboratory to develop a PHOENIX platform for first responders to disconnect a non-cooperative organization from their network infrastructure as well as selectively reform on a separate protected emergency network.
The Air Force Research Laboratory received 70 offers for the cost-plus-fixed-fee contract and will obligate $1.5 million in fiscal 2016 research, development, test and evaluation funds at the award.
Work will occur through July 29, 2020 at BAE’s facility in Burlington, Massachusetts.
