Jack Keane, former vice chief of staff of the U.S. Army and a retired four-star general, has joined AM General as executive chairman of the military and commercial vehicles manufacturer.

AM General said Tuesday he will collaborate with President and CEO Andy Hove as well as the company’s parent corporation MacAndrews & Forbes to implement strategic growth initiatives.

Hove said that Keane’s knowledge of global security issues, corporate governance and leadership skills will be invaluable in AM General’s efforts to provide vehicle platforms to customers.

Keane retired from the Army in 2003, culminating his 37-year military career as the service branch’s vice chief of staff.

He has also served on the boards of multiple companies in the defense and national security sectors.
