webvoice-serviceRockwell Collins has received a contract extension to continue the company’s air traffic control communications services for the Federal Aviation Administration.

Rockwell Collins will provide position reports, aircraft requests and ATC clearances to FAA on aircraft operating within the U.S. oceanic airspace under the Aeronautical Mobile Communications Service deal, the company said Monday.

Yun Chong, vice president of commercial aviation services for Rockwell Collins, said the company has supported efforts to maintain the safety of aircraft flying in U.S. airspace.

Rockwell Collins’ ARINC Voice Services offering facilitates an estimated 200,000 messages per month and covers an area of more than 25 million square miles of U.S. oceanic airspace.

The company added it also provides oceanic and domestic data link services to FAA as part of the agency’s Next Generation Air Transportation System program.
