hawkeye-360-logo_2Allied Minds subsidiary HawkEye 360 has obtained $11 million in a Razor’s Edge Ventures-led Series A funding round to support the development of a constellation of small satellites and build up the company’s business development and engineering teams.

HawkEye 360 also appointed John Serafini, formerly a senior vice president at Allied Minds, as the company’s full-time CEO, the firm said Nov. 23.

HawkEye 360 also plans to raise an additional $2.75 million through the issuance of Series A preferred shares to stockholders over the next two months, bringing the company’s total funds to $13.75 million.

The company plans to test and launch its constellation of three small satellites, Pathfinder Cluster, in late 2017.

The Pathfinder Cluster constellation will work to help government agencies and companies track radiofrequency spectrum usage, detect emergency beacons and geolocated wireless signals as well as collect other data to facilitate the decision-making process.

Herndon, Virginia-based HawkEye 360 develops space-based RF mapping and analytics systems and other technology platforms that work to help clients collect data and generate insights from big data sets.
