IntelsatAn Intelsat subsidiary has secured a task order from the Defense Information Systems Agency to provide satellite connectivity to RiteNet Corp. in support of the U.S. Army‘s tests.

Intelsat General said Thursday RiteNet will use Ku-band capacity on an Intelsat satellite to supply ongoing and surge capacity for the Army’s Warfighter Information Network.

The service branch uses WIN-T to conduct a range of tests at Fort Bliss in El, Paso, Texas and at the White Sands Missile Range in New Mexico such as two Network Integration Evaluation events that aim to evaluate new technologies.

“The Warfighter Information Network is the U.S. Army’s backbone in terms of communications with its troops in the field,” Intelsat General President Skot Butler said.

Butler added Intelsat General’s services will help the Army test new equipment that will support warfighters.

The task order has a one-year base period and four one-year options.
