Deltek's Alex Rossino: DoD Recorded $19M in Cloud Spending in First Half of FY 2016 - top government contractors - best government contracting event

cloud computingA new Deltek report says the Defense Department spent nearly $19 million on cloud computing platforms and services during the first two quarters of fiscal year 2016.

Deltek's analysis of easily identified cloud contracts at DoD also showed that the U.S. Air Force landed the top spot when it comes to cloud spending from Oct. 1, 2015 through March 31, 2016, Alex Rossino, a principal research analyst at Deltek, wrote in a blog post published Wednesday.

According to the report, the service branch spent $5.6 million on cloud tools during FY 2016's first two quarters, followed by the U.S. Navy and U.S. Army at $4.5 million and other defense agencies at $4.1 million.

Rossino also cited the implementation of various cloud strategies at the Pentagon as well as the slow pace of the federal procurement process and preparation of government documents as potential reasons behind DoD's low cloud spending levels.
