The fixed-price contract to be awarded by the Naval Air Systems Command covers 20 aircraft and contains a “variation in quantity” option that could bring the total number of planes to 40, the service branch said in a FedBizOpps presolicitation notice published Tuesday.

The contract will also include systems engineering, program management, production engineering, logistics and software support, product assistance, engineering investigations, financial, administrative and technical data, interim support spares as well as training assistance.

Northrop’s E-2D Advanced Hawkeye works to help warfighters perform battle management command-and-control functions as well as aerial and missile defense missions.

The aircraft has a radar platform, identification friend or foe system, communications and data link suite and electronic support systems.
