Textron Unit Selects CPI Aerostructures to Produce AH-1Z Helicopter Components - top government contractors - best government contracting eventTextron‘s Bell Helicopter subsidiary has awarded CPI Aerostructures a potential $14.8 million indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract to supply engine cowl and support assemblies for the AH-1Z Viper attack helicopter.

The contract will run through Dec. 31, 2020, and falls under the U.S. Marine CorpsH-1 Program of Records initiative that seeks up to 189 AH-1Z and 160 UH-1Y Venom utility helicopters, CPI Aero said Tuesday.

Douglas McCrosson, CPI Aero president and CEO, said the follow-on award will allow the company to continue work on the AH-1Z program into the next decade.

Bell Helicopter was awarded a contract in May 2016 to build 16 AH-1Z helicopters for the Marine Corps.

AH-1Z is a twin-engine attack helicopter equipped with target tracking and air-to-air strike functions.
