BAE's US Arm Taps CH2M to Help Implement Aircraft Landing Tech at Marine Corps, Navy Facilities - top government contractors - best government contracting eventBAE Systems‘ U.S. subsidiary has selected CH2M to support the installation of airfield and shore-based landing systems at more than 35 U.S. Marine Corps and Navy facilities globally.

The two companies will collaborate to help the Navy’s air traffic control systems division implement the Instrument Landing System and Instrument Carrier Landing System as part of the service branch’s Air Traffic Control and Landing Systems program, CH2M said Thursday.

CH2M’s military aviation unit will help the Navy document facility requirements for the ILS and ICLS programs,  prepare base electronic system engineering plans and install design plans.

The Navy created the ILS and ICLS programs in a push to increase all-weather landing capacity of Marine Corps and Navy aircraft platforms such as Boeing-built P-8 Poseidon, Lockheed Martin-made F-35 and Bell Boeing-built V-22 Osprey.

Both systems are designed with electronic precision guidance technology for Navy pilots to manage aircraft landings  on land and sea even in low-visibility areas.
